BCI Through the Years

YMCA Norfolk, NE
For nearly 150 years, Beckenhauer Construction has been building more than buildings. We’ve built lasting relationships with the clients and communities we serve, many of which span generations. Dating back more than a century, our work with the Norfolk YMCA represents just one chapter in Beckenhauer Construction’s long history of serving the community.
The YMCA has been a cornerstone of the Norfolk community for more than a century, serving generations of families, youth, and individuals. While its programs and facilities have evolved to meet changing needs, its mission of bringing people together to learn, grow, and stay active has remained constant. Beckenhauer Construction is proud to have been part of that story from the very beginning.
In 1911, company founder William Beckenhauer served as both the bricklayer and General Contractor for the original YMCA building, helping establish a community institution that continues to enrich lives today.
Our history with the YMCA has continued through the decades. In 1981, Beckenhauer Construction built the Norfolk YMCA facility that still serves the community today, followed by a gymnasium addition in 1991. Most recently, our team completed the Fieldhouse expansion in 2019, helping position the YMCA to serve future generations.
Looking back on more than a century of work with the Norfolk YMCA is a reminder that the most meaningful projects aren’t measured only by the buildings themselves, but by the lasting impact they have on the communities they serve. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue building alongside organizations that strengthen the communities we call home.
