Boone County Physicians Lounge Renovation
Boone County Physicians Lounge Renovation

Albion, NE
At Boone County Health Center, the ongoing Physicians Lounge Renovation is making meaningful updates to a space that supports those who care for others every day. The project focuses on giving physicians a functional area to take a break, reset, and stay ready for whatever their shift may bring.
The renovation covers about 2,930SF of existing space, transforming what was once the hospital’s kitchen and serving area into a dedicated lounge for physicians. The new layout includes two on-call rooms, three updated toilet rooms, and refreshed finishes throughout the surrounding corridors. The goal: make the space more usable, more comfortable, and better suited to the real, day-to-day needs of the hospital’s medical staff.
One of the more technical challenges was addressed early on: an aging duct system that wasn’t going to cut it for the new space. The team brought in a new rooftop unit (RTU) early in the process to solve the issue and keep the project moving forward without added delays.
What makes this project especially noteworthy is how it’s been handled while the hospital remains fully operational. Staff are continuing their work in areas right next to the renovation zone, and thanks to strong communication and planning, construction has moved forward with minimal disruption. As we regularly work in occupied health care facilities, our approach to Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) is solid, professional infection control. We employ a rigorous infection control process driven by our written policy and procedure for containment of airborne contaminants inherent in construction projects. This ensures that while construction moves forward, patient safety and environmental quality remain uncompromised.
With completion just around the corner, the updated Physicians Lounge is almost ready to open. It’s a practical, much-needed improvement that will make a real difference for the people working long hours to care for the community.
