Wallbreaking
The renovation project at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska officially began with a wallbreaking celebration attended by members of the congregation, project partners, and community leaders. The event marked the start of an exciting new chapter for the church as plans move forward to update and expand its facilities.
Robbin Cutsor, Treasurer of the Board at Peace Lutheran Church, welcomed those in attendance and thanked the many board members who worked over the past four years to bring the project to life, inviting them to stand and be recognized. Pastor Cory Burma then led the congregation in prayer before Columbus Mayor, Jim Bulkley, addressed the group. Mayor Bulkley spoke about the important role Peace Lutheran plays in the community, not only as a place of worship but also as
a childcare center serving local families, and how the updated space will help strengthen that role for years to come.
Craig Wohlgemuth, Senior Associate with Sinclair Hille Architects, and Bill Barritt, Vice President of Operations at Beckenhauer Construction, also shared remarks, expressing appreciation to the congregation and community for placing their trust in the project team as construction begins.
Following the remarks, board members and key project partners gathered for the ceremonial wallbreaking, officially marking the start of demolition.
Beckenhauer Construction is honored to partner with Peace Lutheran Church and Sinclair Hille Architects on this meaningful renovation and looks forward to seeing the expanded space continue to serve the congregation and the Columbus community for many years to come.
