Sarpy County Demolition

Sarpy County Demolition

January, 2026

Papillion, NE

The Sarpy County Administration Campus continues to undergo major improvements as Beckenhauer Construction makes steady progress on the site’s transformation. The project began with the demolition of two substantial structures. The former 54,088 SF Sarpy County Jail and the 14,880 SF West Annex Building. Removing these aging facilities opened the door for a much-needed expansion to the campus’s parking capacity, creating space for a new 217-stall parking lot. This marks a significant upgrade from the previous 61 stalls and will greatly improve accessibility for county employees, visitors, and the public once complete.

With demolition now fully wrapped up, the team has transitioned into utility installation and paving operations. Concrete placement for the new parking lot is underway, following careful preparation of the site to ensure long-term durability and functionality.

One of the most notable components of this phase is the installation of the ADS StormTech system, an underground stormwater management solution built directly beneath the new lot. The system captures and detains runoff water in a series of subsurface chambers, releasing it slowly at a controlled rate. This approach prevents overwhelming the municipal storm sewer system, enhances environmental sustainability, and strengthens the campus’s infrastructure resilience for years to come.

Working on an active government campus presents unique challenges, and safety has remained a top priority throughout construction. With county operations continuing all around the site, crews have implemented strict measures to protect employees and visitors, including traffic coordination, designated pedestrian paths, and clear site barriers. Maintaining public safety while keeping up momentum has required careful planning and constant communication, and the project team has navigated these demands successfully.

Though centered on parking and site improvements, this project represents a broader investment in the future of Sarpy County’s administrative services. Beckenhauer Construction is proud to support this forward-looking effort and looks forward to seeing the enhanced campus take shape.
