Our Savior Lutheran Church
Our Savior Lutheran Church
Norfolk, NE
The Our Savior Lutheran Church project in Norfolk is entering an exciting phase as construction continues on the transformation of a large, unfinished shell space into a vibrant new ministry hub. The project covers roughly 22,000 SF across two floors and is designed to support the church’s youth and adult programs with spaces that are both functional and welcoming. Once complete, the building will include dedicated youth rooms, adult Bible study areas, a serving kitchen, a coffee bar, additional restrooms, flexible event spaces for weddings and funerals, and even a stage area. All tailored to support OSLC’s growing ministry and community needs.
Construction progress has been strong, and the project is now moving into major structural work. Crews are currently building CMU (concrete masonry units) walls for the elevator shaft and two stairwells, while structural steel erection is also underway. This shift into vertical construction marks a significant milestone, giving shape to what will soon become a highly utilized and versatile addition to the church’s campus.
One of the most unique features of this project is the foundation system used to support the structural steel. Instead of traditional footings alone, the design incorporates helical piles, giant steel shafts resembling oversized screws that are twisted deep into the ground. Each pile extends roughly 35 feet, providing exceptional stability and load-bearing capacity for the new structure. Their use has been an interesting highlight for the team, showcasing an innovative approach to ensuring the building’s longterm strength and performance.
As work continues, the project remains focused on delivering high-quality spaces where the church’s youth, adults, and families can gather, learn, and connect for years to come. Beckenhauer Construction, Inc. is proud to partner with Our Savior Lutheran Church on a project that will play such an important role in their expanding ministry.
