Bob & Wauneta Burkley Fitness Center - Ground Breaking

This quarter, BCI joined Jefferson Community Health & Life, Davis Design, and community members to break ground on the renovation of the Bob & Wauneta Burkley Fitness Center in Fairbury.

The approximately 13,000 SF project will bring new life to the existing fitness center while expanding physical therapy services for the community. About half of the project will renovate the existing gym, two locker rooms and pool deck, while the other half will create new physical therapy space. The project will also include a new direct entrance from the parking lot and additional pediatric physical therapy space, making the facility more accessible and functional for patients, members, and families.

The groundbreaking ceremony recognized the collaboration behind the project, with remarks from Jefferson Community Health & Life team members Holly Wolff, Ross Boeckner, Jen Johnson, Lana Likens and Nichole Thorp, along with BCI President Joe Beckenhauer.

With construction now underway, crews are completing dirt work and underground plumbing as the project begins to take shape.

Projects like the Burkley Fitness Center renovation require a clear understanding of how a facility needs to function both today and in the future. By combining renovation expertise with thoughtful coordination, BCI is helping Jefferson Community Health & Life create spaces that support physical therapy, fitness and wellness while making better use of the facility’s existing footprint.
